Las Vegas, USA - Inside The Bellagio

Date: 5th to 7th August 2005
Fact: Bellagio is a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, USA. It is owned by MGM Mirage and was built on the site of demolished Dunes hotel and casino. Inspired by the Lake Como resort of Bellagio in Italy, Bellagio is famed for its elegance. One of its most notable features is an eight-acre (32,000 m²) artificial lake between the building and the Strip, which houses the Fountains of Bellagio, a major free attraction of fountains synchronized tomusic, which provides a romantic ambiance for couples walking along the strip. This is by far the most beautiful hotel that I've ever stayed in.

Trivia: Bellagio was featured prominently in the film Ocean's Eleven. The curved staircase that Tess Ocean (played by Julia Roberts) descended was removed during a 2006 remodel to accommodate the entrance pathway from a newly built hotel tower, called The Spa Tower. New shops and restaurants fill the space. The vault for the three casinos that were robbed (MGM Grand, Mirage, and Bellagio) owned by Terry Benedict (played by Andy Garcia) was located beneath the Bellagio.

Also three bouts between Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe were contested here, one of which included the infamous "Fan Man" incident which saw a parachuter with a fan attached to his back parachute down to the ring in the middle of the fight. Michael Moorer also won the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship of the World when he defeated Holyfield. Oscar De La Hoya also headlined several boxing cards here during the mid-to-late '90s, as did Shane Mosley.

Las Vegas, USA - Along The Strip #1

Date: 5th August 2005
Fact: The Las Vegas Strip (also known as The Strip) is a 4 mi (6.7 km) section of Las Vegas Boulevard South, most of which has been designated an All-American Road. Only part of The Strip is located within the city limits of Las Vegas, Nevada: the section north of Sahara Avenue. The section south of Sahara Avenue is in Clark County's unincorporated Township of Paradise, Nevada. Many of the largest hotel, casino and resort properties in the world are located on The Strip.
